70. The Sixth Year

This year, Cheryll, I’m posting this blog entry the day after your birthday. The truth is that life is busy and I knew I needed a quiet minute to get my thoughts together so I had to wait a day to write this post. One of my sons played in a big football game yesterday at Bracken County High School. We drove past New Hope Road on the way and the light that beamed down from the heavens and through the trees told me you were there. The fact that the game was played on October 19 was a further sign of good luck. My son and his team won the game.

2024 brings the sixth year that I’ve been invested in your case. This is the sixth birthday that has passed without definite answers, but it’s also the sixth year where I’ve had assurances that it hasn’t been forgotten. I remain touched by the outpouring of love and support that continues to surround you. I draw inspiration and comfort from those people who knew you, who care about you, and care about the journey this case has taken. Many people reached out to me yesterday letting me know they too were thinking of you.

I felt your presence recently when I spent time doing some new research. When it gets overwhelming, I swear I hear a soft whisper telling me to “keep going.” And I do. We do. We will always keep going.

Well Tom, a new angel has joined you and I pray that the two of you have been able to celebrate your birthday together. The loss of my mother-in-law, Joni, has been very hard on the family. She was a big supporter of mine and was a constant source of encouragement in all things, including pursuing answers in Cheryll’s case. It’s only been a couple of months since her passing, but her presence is strong. This morning brought another day of cleaning out and organizing her home, and a smile came to my face when we found a little something she had stashed away. I know it was for me to have— another sign that you, Joni, and Cheryll are at peace. We miss you all, think of you often, and pray that you watch over us.

Please keep sharing Cheryll’s story. If you have any information please contact me or reach out to the Kentucky State Police, Post 6 at 859-428-1212.
