The Trapper

I asked Joe what his friend was trapping on New Hope Road and the surrounding areas and why he was trapping at all. He educated me further. In case you also are curious, here is what he shared:

He would trap muskrat, mink, raccoon, fox, and coyote. He would skin, wash, and cure the hides. Once dried, two times a year, there would be fur “trading” purchases in Cincinnati. He would load up and present his furs to different buyers and sell them for the most money. Mind you, those furs in the quantity he would have, would provide him with enough money to live on. He got out of trapping because of PETA and the pelts became worthless.

I learned something new!
